Automobile hub units is the transmission part connecting the suspension system and the wheels.
The most popular hub bearing used on a Vehicle used to be single row taper roller or ball bearing which are used in pairs. As technology develops, the passenger automobiles have been using sedan hub units. The range and volume of usage have been increasing rapidly. Now it has been generally developed to the third generation.
The first generation is made of dual row angle contact bearings.
The second generation is dual row angle contact bearing units with outer flange. The bearing can be simply attached to the wheel axle and fixed with bolts. This made the repairing of cars much easier. The hub of a vehicle and brake pad can be installed on the flange.
The third generation hub bearing units apply the structure combined by bearing unit and ABS system. Hub unit is designed into inner flange and outer flange, the inner flange is fixed to the drive axle with bolts, while the outer flange connects this whole device to the car.
The advantages of hub units taking the place of hub bearings are, no need to adjust the Clearance when being installed, the assembling mechanics gets more reasonable, it gets lighter while the reliability goes higher, convenient to maintain, the overall cost goes down, etc.
